The word from Washington on ASE
As many readers know, I traveled to Washington, D.C., last month to visit with our congressional delegation and senior officials from the Federal Aviation Administration. I was accompanied by Patti Clapper, my fellow Pitkin County commissioner; Jon Peacock, county manager; Dan Bartholomew, Aspen-Pitkin County Airport director; and Jessica Monahan, policy advisor for Arnold and Porter.
We met with Sen. John Hickenlooper, Sen. Michael Bennet and Rep. Lauren Boebert from our delegation, as well as Rich Swazey, deputy associate director of Airports Division and Shanetta Griffon, associate director of Airports Division, for the FAA. Our goal was to advocate for federal support of the “Common Ground Recommendations” to modernize our airport, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and noise, manage growth and improve the customer experience with a new terminal.
